I bought this for my 2 3 year old grandchildren to help them practice hand eye coordination and recognize animals and other things. I've always wanted a tool like this to learn strings. In the end I decided to buy it. It's real wood, I can feel its weight, it's really good, the pictures are visible and clear! The thread is a beautiful thread woven in the form of a rope. It's durable! They are very good and easy to string, they do very well on their own if they are not too lazy! The colors are bright and juicy, just like in my photos! I like different categories like fruits, vegetables, vehicles, animals etc, the variety was well thought out. Some kits I saw only had one category so I bought that one. I could teach them all different types! They often play with characters as if they were characters. I love watching them play! I have a degree in Early Learning Intervention and this string style activity is great for younger kids, I see them gain hand eye coordination skills. I plan to get several other versions in the near future. it can keep you busy whether it's just playing or stringing. This is a great little set and I'm happy with how well it turned out!
