Review on πŸ“€ JVC XV-S300BK Black DVD Player - An Enhanced Home Entertainment Experience by Justin Peck

good player but problems with subtitles

I got this player about a week ago to replace my 4 year old RCA player which was starting to give me a bang. Overall this is a very good player with a decent remote control. The fixes were very good as some of my faulty DVDs played fine. An interesting feature of the on-screen display was the bit rate at which the DVDs were encoded. Unfortunately, a major flaw I found with the player was that it didn't pass subtitle signals to my TV. I'm not sure if this was just a problem with my player but I think it could be a design flaw in all JVC players as I read about the same problem in some older JVC players over a year ago. I had to return my player as I couldn't figure out how to get the subtitles to work properly. My new Panasonic runs through CC with no problems, but it doesn't play my faulty DVDs as smoothly as this JVC. If you are hard of hearing and absolutely need CC, skip this player.
