I purchased a trilobite specimen for a science project that used photogrammetry to create a 3D reconstruction of a fossilized organism. They are surprisingly cheap considering their age, but as it turns out, fossils and fossil fragments can vary widely in price based on various factors such as workmanship, rarity, etc. The map is used to determine the exact nature and approximate location of the discovery. The listing says it comes with a certificate of authenticity, but to be honest it's just a company-printed card that says "You bought the fossil from us", which isn't really at a serious review important is. After careful study and some research I have come to the conclusion that this specimen is a Calymene Trilobite, most likely from a sandstone formation in Morocco or North America. My brother and I had fun studying the fossil and trying to classify which species it most closely resembles, and I appreciate the time this specimen took to inspire. In doing so, this list has provided prehistoric fossils as a teaching tool, and for that I am grateful.
