Review on πŸ§” Philips Norelco BeardTrimmer 7300 with Vacuum Technology and Adjustable Length Settings (Model # QT4070/41) by Amanda Owens

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not as good as the old T980.

Like some other reviewers, my Norelco T980 stopped holding a charge after 3-4 years. The 7300 "seems" to be much more durable than the older model. While the T980 rattled and the length adjustment felt a bit wobbly (press too hard and it would flex a bit), the T980 had one major advantage over this new model - the vacuum was stronger. It looks like Norelco spent so much time strengthening the trimmer's body and adding a small LCD display (completely unnecessary), but they missed the most important part of the VACUUM trimmer. The T980 captures around 95% of hair between 2 days and 1 week of growth, while the 7300 only captures around 80%. It doesn't seem like a huge difference, which is probably why Norelco thought this trimmer was fine after pre-testing the product. But when you're in your own bathroom, an extra 15% in 1,000 hairs is a lot of stubble to look for when cleaning a granite countertop. I spent about three times more time cleaning with the 7300 compared to the T980. The little cleaning brush they supply with it has also gotten a lot worse. They tried to make it more compact but the bristles are too short and stiff. You should fire the engineer responsible for upgrading this trimmer. Update: I changed my star rating from 2 to 1. Last week the door to the vacuum chamber suddenly opened while I was shaving. I've tried closing it again and it won't stay closed. I took a closer look and the cheap little plastic tab on the door is basically too worn/bent. I'm so good at this business. I never dropped it, hit it or anything like that. I can't believe it broke after only 9 months after years of having the old model. I will not be buying a Philips razor again in the future - I have already ordered a Remington vacuum cutter which I was very happy with many years ago.
