Eclipse 10 " Front Vise = BEAST!

Whether you want to work wood with modern power tools or traditional hand tools, a front vise for your workbench is a must. The Eclipse EWWQR10-NA is large enough to handle the largest inventory , but has a very sensitive screw stroke for finer gripping requires a lot of stroke The quick release function works very well and allows you to open or close the workpiece in a jiffy, the screw bites again when the trigger is released A simple incomplete turn of the screw and They fit snugly back into the work piece with little to no effort. This is a large 10" model and may be overkill for the hobbyist or enthusiast. I bought this large diameter vise because I plan on assembling furniture and some my oak stands are 8 in./4 in. thick and they can n Weighing over 50 pounds I wanted to ensure just enough jaw width to grip a longer, thicker workpiece and still hold it while hand trimming the edges. I've been using Vise for a few weeks now and I really like their furniture making. It holds the workpiece in place even with the most careful planing. The built-in pawl is nice, but it doesn't sit flush with the top of the jaw. If this is a problem for you I suggest you take a cut-off saw or bench grinder with you before using - just mark the part you want to cut off and get started. You might also think the box is missing a thumbscrew and washer - check the plastic wrapper the vise came in and you'll see they're pinned near one of the corners - I skipped those first and found the Customer service contacted. Department (who called me back a few days after I left voicemail) - I finally found them before they answered me, but it was nice to know that they actually check and reply to messages! If you have a workbench with dog holes (like me) there is nothing to worry about. I simply attached the 1" x 0.5" strip of oak scrap I had to the opposite side of the vise so I could clamp the work pieces between the vise pawl and the oak bar to hold the work pieces for trimming. This method works pretty well - just make sure you screw the spike into enough material to ensure a secure fit, as the vise can generate a lot of pressure with very little effort. Bank a little (lack of foresight on my part). It mounts to the underside of your countertop fairly easily with a couple of 1/2" screws (the length of the screw is determined by the thickness of your table). Once it's in place, you're ready for almost anything. Enjoy!
