My TV ran out of RCA audio outs and I needed to be able to stream audio to a pair of Sennheiser HDR120 wireless headphones. I had never used a Toslink digital optical connection before, but I had an available digital optical output on my TV and decided to give it a try. (I also ordered a $5 6 foot digital optical audio cable from Revain. Be sure to remove the plastic shields from the ends of the Toslink cable!) Installing the ESYNIC D/A converter was very easy. I went to Settings -> TV Sound and made sure PCM was selected. I simply connected the Sennheiser RCA input cables to the RCA output connectors of the ESYNIC D/A converter. As expected, I had to tweak the settings on the Sennheiser base unit a bit to optimize the connection. This manipulation lasted about 5 minutes. The results were impressive. An AB comparison of the sound in the headphones with the sound from the TV speakers showed that the sound in the headphones was noticeably clearer, more musical and more realistic.
