I was recently in Iceland and wore these pants while on a glacier and ice caving tour in September. Pants fit well and keep you warm and dry in windy and wet weather. The fabric is thick but not too soft like the ski pants I've worn before. I didn't have to wear leggings or long underwear under these pants on this trip, but an underlayer may be required in colder weather. The fabric has a little stretch so they are very comfortable and don't restrict my movements when hiking and climbing. I liked the fact that the waist of these pants is flat because it has an adjustable velcro strap and not an elastic that tightens. The ankle zips are convenient so you can take off your pants without taking off your boots. I'm 5ft 5" and I usually wear a size 8-10 (waist 29-30) jeans and they fit perfectly.
