Decent Stove: Outdoor Recreation

Received this to test with my camping stove to see how it stacks up. Pros: Lightweight stainless steel flame adjuster when things get hot. It works well It burns fuel and/or alcohol for a long time. Warranty. Cons: - Not suitable for standard 350-750ml jug/cup. - The plate is not firmly seated in the base of the windshield. 1 x Stainless Steel Flame Adjuster - 1 x Plastic 100ml Measuring Cup - 1 x Windscreen/Base - 1 x Black Silicone Strap - 1 x Mesh Carry Bag - 1 x Instruction Manual Diameter and 3 3/4" high. The various parts weigh as follows: Windscreen/Base - 2.9 ounces Stove - 4.0 ounces Flame Adjuster - 1.3 ounces Measuring Cup - 0.3 ounces Mesh Bag - 1.2 ounces Total Weight - 9.7 ounces Even the plate can be made as is Stainless steel will be heavier than all other parts. The windshield/base is likely an aluminum alloy. It has three moveable legs to stabilize the base or for packing. Does not contain any information on the properties of the metal used in this product. Except for stainless steel flame regulator. The Regulator has a retractable knob to adjust the flame while you have your pot on the stove This product comes with a 6 page user manual, approximately 1 1/4 pages per language (EN, GR, FR, JP) What me to them What I like about this stove is that when it gets hot, it is used not only for cooking but also for heating. It took me just over 5 minutes to get the oven up to the right temperature. You must fill both the interior of the furnace and the outer tank. You light the outer tank, and as it heats up, the flame moves into the inner chamber. I've found that this works best when the alcohol in the inner chamber begins to boil. It took a while for the cooker to gain acceptance even in relatively light wind conditions. But the stove buzzed as soon as it died and I was able to boil 300ml of water in about 3 minutes. The ground was stable and the wind protection was sufficient. But I'm not sure how fair it will be on a windy day. What didn't bother me about this product is that the base can only accommodate larger pots. If like me you prefer to carry a jug/cup (350-450ml) to save space and reduce weight. You need to build an improvised platform for a flat grill. The furnace itself is also not easy. It would be nice if the components were titanium to save weight. This setup is about 2x heavier than my go-to stove. It might not sound like much, but who packs. knows that you are doing everything to lighten your burden. I also found the flame regulator unnecessary, it's just another piece I don't have to carry around. I would prefer a light weight grill lid or some poles to place on top so I can use ANY pot/cup I have. As I mentioned earlier, the oven was difficult to start and took a while to heat up. When testing I was in almost calm wind. So it could have more to do with being heated on metal or alcohol or both. But I had to light the stove 20 times and I found the best solution was to fill the external tank with alcohol until it seized. Once that happens you're good to go because at this point the alcohol should be boiling. The stove is also placed in a windscreen/plinth, rotates freely and is not secured. However, many oil furnaces have similar problems. In testing, I was able to boil 300ml of water in about 3 minutes. The stove itself took about 15 minutes to cool sufficiently before you could return the spent fuel and put it away. Draining alcohol from the stove also takes a few minutes. The manufacturer provides a 3 year limited warranty on this product and this information can be found in the manual. I received this product in exchange for an honest review. All in all, this is a decent oven. It's well made and lightweight. But obviously not as strong as the Titanium. For nearly $50 for this slab, you can find a similar minimalist titanium product at Revain for the same or less. Unfortunately, this oven didn't live up to my go-to oven. But it's a good oven once you get it up to temperature. I would not consider this for hiking due to several factors. Weight Quick launch capability Requires better wind protection I still think it's a great product but more suited to camping than hiking.
