I strongly prefer the short version as it allows both shoulder and handheld use. The long versions makes it hard to hold the receiver in your hand.This is the best pad I can find and I have tried many however, I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 for 2 reasons.1) I wish the pad was an inch (2.5 cm) or so thicker, it would keep my neck straighter.2) I wish the pad was made of clear plastic, my hand set has a voicemail indicator LED on the back side of the ear piece and the pad blocks the view of the LED. I cut a couple of large holes in the pad to allow me to see the LED throught the pad.
