This mat is definitely more practical and useful than puzzle mats. It won't fall apart when the child pulls on the edges, it's smooth and easy to clean. However, don't think of this as a long-term investment. It's slowly being torn apart by cuts and claws (if you have animals), sometimes leaving pieces behind. In addition, the material will gradually wear out where it folds if only adults walk on it. Still, I think it's a good product, albeit a bit overpriced. We got the full 77 x 69 inches, but it's thinner than advertised and 0.46 inches thick.
