A respectable replacement for the QC35

Two years later, my Bose Q35 suffered serious wear and tear for the first time: the left earcup snapped spontaneously and the memory foam pad ripped out. Ordering new pillows from Bose costs $35. So the $15 price difference isn't exponential, but these Accessory House pillows came with Prime, which is why I was sold. For reference, these are "not" OEM parts from Bose. They are very similar to the original ear pads, but there are a few differences. Fitting new ear pads can be a bit confusing as the foam ring that holds the clips can be finicky at times and they will slip out of the clips when trying to fit them in. All it takes is a little trial and error. In the following images, the Accessories House is on the left and the original is on the right. The original right ear pad remains intact for comparison. I can see right away that the originals are much fuller and bolder. They are softer and the new ones are stiffer but very light. I myself was wondering how stiff they are, but that might be because the new ones are thinner so the memory foam is more densely packed compared to the originals. It's an extremely subtle difference, but they're not "hard" as some describe them. These headphones are still very comfortable, and the noise-cancelling gasket effectively provides adequate isolation. Because they're thinner, your ears are closer to the speakers. Whether or not this affects hearing is entirely up to your own experience, as they can be interpreted in different ways. But they feel great and the leather is just as good as that originally came with the QC35. The kit also includes a plastic opening tool and interchangeable nets. I did not use canvases as the originals did not need to be replaced. I also don't recommend using an opening tool as you can damage the plastic clips that hold the pillows in place. Long term we will see how they hold up and update my review accordingly.
