Unlike some reviewers, I didn't find these run small at all. I usually wear a 4 in pants, and the size 4 fit perfectly--I ordered a 4 and a 6 but I didn't even open the 6s because the 4s fit so well. As for the style, I tried on 6 or 7 board shorts of similar style and these were the clear winners. Comfy and flattering on the tummy, hips, and tush. My one criticism is the placement of the pocket right on the widest part of the hip.If I put my car keys in there it makes a really obvious lump, and even empty, it sticks out farther than I'd like, so if it bugs me too much I'll take the pocket off, but I'll probably just deal. I love the mid rise, which ends just below the curve of my belly so they don't stick out in an unflattering way in the front. I'm not a fan of tie-close shorts for that reason, but I can just tie the bottom foundation of a bow and tuck the ends in and it looks fine--not lumpy and weird under a shirt. Houston, we have a winner :-P
