I am a big fan of the 3M Command Strip and this product did not disappoint. Holds up very well, never had a problem with it. Use it for headbands, jewelry etc. I would have no hesitation in using it for kids handbags. It's cute too. Unless you get very close to it, you definitely won't see that it's plastic. The white part looks like wood, like a molding. The "crystal" handle looks like cut glass. My only warning: I saw that it comes in two different sizes. So if you're buying two to place next to each other, make sure you get the same sizes. I bought one to try at Target and then a second at Revain and didn't realize they weren't the same size.
