There are two ways to measure cord length. You can measure from the end of the plug on one end to the end of the plug on the other end, or from the point where the cord and plug meet to the same point on the other end. With a 3 or 5 foot cable it doesn't matter much, but if you switch to a 6 inch or 1 foot cable it can be more than half the cable. A typical example: With the 6-inch variant, the cable consists of a 3-inch cable between two 1.5-inch connectors. They are shorter than expected but still get to call themselves 6 inch cables and are still long enough to connect my switch and patch panel together so I'm very happy with the overall result but it was definitely a discussion value. , and I would like it to be clearly marked in the pictures for example. That being said, the small, thin, flexible wires connect securely and report no problems, but are able to flex, bend, and flow where I need them in my rack (both 6" and 5" versions). I have 5" versions that connect all my servers to the switch and now 6" versions that connect all patch panel ports to the switch. I'll get some 1" later for some of the more permanently placed items like the modem, router, and optional POE switch.
