Fabric starts to fray

Bought two pairs of these for my girls to use in the pool. They got blisters on their feet from running around in the pool. They are really cute and work great but the fabric is deteriorating after just 2 weeks of use as you can see in the photos. They weren't sitting in the sun so I'm guessing they just don't do well with the chlorine in the pool.
