I have delivered them to the local security/fire department by dividing them individually (one for $10 with USB with cable or with charger for $18. ) People are amazed that for $10 you can get a nice looking/sounding radio station that communicates well in the neighborhood. Smaller than a smartphone and much lighter. Powerful. We rode 6 miles though averaging 0.5 to 2. Programmable (we use one frequency for registration and have an emergency channel that uses the same frequency but with a confidential tone; alerts but don't worry about chatter! software/ Cables included. And it works well. Chirp works too (which I used to remap for me as a ham radio). (They recommend unplugging after charging to fully protect the battery, although monitoring while plugged in is possible is.) Retevis support is top notch Despite the language barrier they do their best to make things right and answer questions CONS Only 16 channels I excluded the low power FRS channels but it would be nice having all 22 or even twice as many for privacy code programming and I don't know where the scan ends up Okay one of the reasons it's so cheap is that it doesn't ke in display, which means you won't know what channel it's on when the scan finds a signal. You can tap to speak and reply "blind" as always. The Press to Talk button is a little tricky; Beginners or little kids might have trouble.Wish more colors. I want my "ham" programmed to be bright red so nobody accidentally uses it! (For now you need to create a label.) Includes charging station. You can add a dollar or two but it's worth it. Full Disclosure. Retevis encouraged me to write a full review after several successful customer service transactions. It just made me want to actually write something. 5 stars was my plan all along.
