Size is deceptive. The overall size of the strap is 59 inches including the ratchet groove spacing, this strap is not suitable for waists over 54 inches. I tried the buckle on my black yichaoyiliang men's ratchet leather dress, large (this belt came as advertised) and it worked well. The ratchet release is a bit tight and difficult to manipulate, but that may be due to the novelty of the buckle.
