Review on Casio F201WA 1A Black Resin Digital by Nik Dingaling

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fiction! I've had the F91W for 20 years and finally switched to this one and I love it!

In my 34 years of life I must have loved the 6-8 F91W, but when it came time to re-order I couldn't help but wish for a different alarm clock. It has 5 which I think is probably overkill considering I've lived with 1 alarm for so long. but i love it I was afraid it would be much more like a G-Shock and sports watch. But it's maybe only 10% larger than the F91W and I think the big buttons are much more comfortable on the fingers than the small metal buttons. I'm also glad the resin strap feels the same - often the watch gets a minor facelift but gets a crappy strap - this watch retains a very similar wrist feel to my F91W. Another update is the beep when switching between modes - it has a second beep when you return to main timing mode, which I think is pretty cool. It also has a second time zone feature which can be annoying if you don't need it. Speaking of "parasitic features" (like dual time zones when you don't need or need them), there's not much on this watch. I've struggled to find a watch without a weird solar panel, multiple time zones, and a heartbeat. Monitors, used digital displays or 6 buttons. None of this is superfluous on this watch, with the exception of the 2nd time zone. But I think 5 alarms is worth the extra mode to go through. Finally, I can't comment on the durability or depth rating of the keys. I got the F91W down to 137ft without killing it, but only time will tell. Thanks for reading - if you're a Casio nerd who needs to grow up a bit (wake-up alarm, outdoor alarm, recurring meeting alarms, and GTFO alarm at the end of the day) without buying a smartwatch, I recommend the Casio F201-WA .
