Review on Efficient Cooling Solution: HOLMES 16 Inch Oscillating Wall-Mountable Fan, Black (HMF1611A-UM) by Jennifer Palmer

This Holmes fan replaces a Hurricane fan that has been in constant use in the garage for 5 years. So I had a decent comparison. I would have just bought another Hurricane but figured I might like the darker color of this Holmes. First, there was no outer packaging when shipped, just retail packaging. The box looked like it had had a tough transport too. All components appeared to be intact. Further verification. I installed this fan about 7 feet up the wall in my garage. I immediately switched it to the "3" (high) setting and knew it wasn't going to work. The altitude on this fan was about low/medium at the hurricane. Poor airflow. Then I turned on the wobble. Fresh out of the box, it made a popping sound every time the fan changed direction. Annoying and unencouraging longevity. Also, when I tried to adjust the fan spacing, it seemed to me that the entire fan case was flexing. Super thin plastic. All in all, this fan might be fine for a very small room, but I wouldn't count on longevity. The fan has been returned.
