Review on Mayflash F300 Arcade Joystick Switch by Roy Boone

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Absolute advantage in the current market

Bought this as my first stick to upgrade later with quality parts. I currently only use stock parts and they seem to work pretty well. The joystick itself feels pretty good and has nice audible feedback, although admittedly the clicks are loud, but I suspect this is the standard based on what I've seen on other joysticks. The buttons seem pretty decent, but to me they seem a bit cheaper than a joystick. My buttons sometimes creak when I press them as they scratch the plastic inside. I was planning on replacing them first so it doesn't bother me too much. The stick is well weighted and has rubber feet on the bottom to keep it in place when placed on a table. I used it on a PC for SFV and it was auto-detected, currently using the xinput setting. There doesn't seem to be any input lag that I'm noticing, or if there is, it's negligible. In the current battle stick market, this stick is a bargain. The Sanwa stick + keys will cost you an additional $40-50. Compare this price to any new stick on the market and it's an absolute steal. Even if you don't plan to update it, it still seems like a good deal. Overall this joystick is way better than I expected and I'm very happy with my choice. I should also mention that I got the Rev.1.1 (from Revain) with a USB controller input next to the USB cable. I love that Mayflash noticed the problem and fixed it. Edit of March 19, 2017: I replaced the joystick and 6 buttons with Sanwa parts and I can safely say that the biggest improvement is the replacement of the joystick. The opposite of my original feelings. The buttons are better, but not by much, but still improved. However, the stick was a noticeable difference for me. I've always had a little trouble entering angles with the standard joystick and that's completely gone with the Sanwa joystick. The Sanwa joysticks are actually quieter too, enough to be noticed, but they won't let you play stealthily in the middle of the night (at least not with the standard joystick).

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Easy to repair
