I'm not a gamer but I needed a new keyboard and bought this one because it looked festive. Tell you what, I'm really glad I got it. The keys are both backlit and illuminated by the letters. You can adjust the brightness or turn off the keyboard backlight completely. I find it very helpful for me when I have to type with one hand and press the keys. The backlight also makes it easy for me to find a special character key that I didn't remember. good buy
