I was getting terrible static in my newly installed car player just when the engine was running. It would have earned 5 stars if only they provided the simplest hookup instructions. I had to get these details from other comments on this site. Like most devices these days, my radio has 2 positive power supplies. a direct always-on/battery wire (yellow in my case) to store radio memory, and an ignition key source to actually turn on the radio. I first connected this device to a permanently on circuit. (RED wire to vehicle power supply, BLACK wire to a suitable ground and BLUE wire to radio power input wire). It did NOTHING to filter out the motor's electrical static noise. So I reconnected the unit to my radio's power input using the ignition key (in my case, red wire to the radio harness) and voila. To my great surprise and delight, the device now filters out at least 95% of background noise. enough to make me start my radio. No complaints
