Perfect design and worked great until it broke

I am upset that I have to return this adapter. Few products come so close to perfect design. From the moment I opened the little box it arrived in I was impressed with the design, build quality, ease of pairing and use with different and sometimes multiple devices. I was even mesmerized by the voice announcing that the device was on/off, connected, paired, etc. She looks more like a friend of the developers than a professional voice actress and always made me smile whenever she spoke to me. about this adapter was almost perfect. It had a very low profile and fitted perfectly into the space allotted on my Bose QC15. It looked and felt good with quality materials. The three buttons are large enough to be found by touch and click clearly when pressed, and functions work flawlessly. The battery lasted about 6 hours (the active noise cancellation (ANC) in the headphones is powered by a separate AAA battery), it lasted a full week of my public transport rides, and it took about 2 hours to go from zero to full Charge without having to remove it from the headphones with any micro USB cable. Problems with it are really minimal. Every time you turn it on, a charming voice will inform you of the battery level, which will cycle from high to medium and fully discharge without going too low. It would be nice to get a warning before the adapter battery runs out. Another very minor issue was that when the ANC QC15 was turned off, the Bluetooth function stayed on, even though the headphones couldn't play music when they were off. So I had to remember to turn off both Bluetooth and headphones. Ideally, when I turn off the headphones, the BT function should turn itself off to save battery. Both are very minor issues and I was absolutely willing to live with them. Why am I returning such an exquisitely designed and engineered product? Because a few days ago I started hearing a crackling sound in my left ear and at some point the left channel went out completely. I have found that if I wiggle the adapter or if the bus hits a pothole, the left channel will turn on for a few seconds and then turn off again. Moving the adapter far enough sometimes made the left channel come alive, but the crackling didn't go away. I know what you're thinking"How do you know it's an adapter and not your headset?" Good question! I tried a second Bose QC2 headphone and the adapter with the same results. I also went back to using the original cable with my QC15 and both channels worked great. I even used another BT receiver + original Bose cable and the headphones worked great. Evidence suggests that the problem is with the connector between the adapter and the headphones. That's not a problem I can ignore. The left channel randomly turning on and off is incredibly annoying, and as long as the adapter works for a few seconds and a few minutes, I'm worried about permanently damaging the cable connector on my headphones and turning a $60 problem into a $300 problem. to make dollar problem . , literally the last thing I want. So it is with great regret that I return this adapter and continue my search for the perfect BT Active Noise Canceling solution. I hope the people who designed and built this adapter will continue to improve the headphone jack to solve this problem. If so, I would seriously consider buying it again. So keep connecting guys and girls and use the same voice in future versions of the product as it is one of the most charming features. TL; DR: Despite the great design and workmanship, I have to return mine because the connector that connects the adapter to the Bose headphones stopped working properly after a few weeks.

Pros
  • Solid build
Cons
  • Not bad but...
