The keyboard stays attached in the case but doesn't hold up as well without the case due to the thickness of the case, but still works. Closing of the "lid"/lid type will still be triggered by the Pro's magnetic sensor and perform the appropriate action. It doesn't fit snugly against the Pro on both the left and right edges of the case - it has a lot of play and isn't adjustable. When everything is folded it offers some protection from scuffs/scratches, but I wouldn't feel comfortable dropping it. The corners offer some, but not much, protection. The ventilation ducts are not clogged, so overheating is not a problem. Two things are VERY good: [1] the bottom edge has sticky feet that hold the angle/tilt very well without slipping; [2] The Pro can be easily removed if/when you need access to the SD card slot. Highly recommended. 4 due to the relatively loose fit on the left/right edges and perhaps not very good drop protection.
