I read the manual a bit to understand how to use the film attachments. But I am very happy with the scan quality I get from this product. However, I give it four runs because the included Silverfast software is a total failure. After playing with it for an hour I still couldn't get a decent scan from the Silverfast software. Stick with Epson's scanner software, which is actually much easier to use and gives better results. In addition, this model has scanner profiling software and color presets. Track the correct uploads to match the specific version of submitted targets. The download link provided does not lead to the actual download page. You have to search the website until you find the right page. There wasn't an exact match online for the target version I received, so I used the best match available. After spending a few hours profiling the scanner, the difference between the custom scanner profile I created and the default generic V850 profile was negligible. It took quite a while to look at the histograms of the scans to even tell if there was a difference. The moral is, unless you need two sets of film fans, you can probably save $150 and buy the V800.
