Review on 🎧 Etymotic Research MC5 Noise-Canceling In-Ear Earphones by Dana Martin

My favorite headphones!

I really love these headphones. I've had a pair for about a year now and recently bought a second pair so I can have one at work and one at home. I'm a huge music lover - I listen, play and play rock music regularly and occasionally record both in the studio and at home. I really prefer a flat frequency response in my headphones and I hate the trend for extra bass in most modern headphones. My favorite flat-firing in-ear headphones are the Sony MDR V6 and they sound very similar - very clear, clean and not at all overwhelming bass. It's still there and audible, of course, but it's not artificially amplified in these headphones. I've never liked in-ears because their sticky ear pads always got sweaty or greasy and ended up falling out of my slightly odd shape. ear canals. But since you cram them halfway into your brain they fit really well and the extra insulation is amazing - I can't hear a thing when they're on and I love that. Don't buy these if you're a cyclist, runner or anyone else who need to hear people or traffic around you - 35dB of isolation is a TON. The bushing where most of the stress occurs is well designed to relieve it. I look forward to the longevity of both pairs that I have. The tips become oily, waxy, and gross after a few weeks of use. Cleaning isn't that difficult, but over time they just get gross. I bought a pack of ten Etymotic replacement baits and they fit perfectly on the stems and work great as backup baits.
