Review on Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM lens, black by Wei-Yin Hou ᠌

A wonderful product, its nice to use.

Absolutely awesome lens! It's amazing that I used to use vario/lenses and nothing else. In addition, I also have 24-70 / 2.8 and 85 / 1.2. The latter is a separate song, but it does not have universality. Another thing is a fifty dollars. Now I take it on all business trips. You can shoot almost everything, except maybe fast-moving objects. At first I walked and "clicked" everything, then the euphoria passed, but the most positive sensations remained. It is not cheap, but it is better to take an uncompromising fix than a zoom of the same cost - the quality of the pictures is incomparable. But if the main objects for filming are running children and dogs, it is better to take a short-range zoom - 24-70 / 2.8, for example.

Pros
  • It’s kind of strange to hear this from an adult man, but I just fell in love with this lens! Amazing picture, beautiful and deep bokeh, high sharpness, good autofocus performance. The lens is made of high quality, looks beautiful and solid on the camera (much better than any kind of zoom, wide-angle and telephoto), unpretentious and versatile. Not suitable for professional portraits, but at the amateur level, portraits are excellent. Depth of field wide open and FF is amazing. True, this greatly interferes with video shooting. The lens is equipped with a uranium "emerald" lens . A very nice lens, which is strangely ignored by most photographers, zooms are increasingly used. If I had to use only one lens, I would choose only this one and no other.
Cons
  • Slightly changes the focal length at polar sharpness values, at an open aperture, sharpness drops along the very edge (slightly). Expensive.
