This glass gives a unique picture and pattern. It attracts. Some here compare with two lenses with a diagram of 1.8 and 1.4. Some people think why do I need 1.2, I still shoot at f2 more often, so I'll take 1.8 or 1.4. It's not the diaphragm. On the same aperture, for example, 1.8, all 3 glasses will give a different picture. And the L lens is the most chic here. Autofocus is very fast, the sharpness at 1.2 was amazing, at 2.8 it was just a razor. And what a magical background he makes. I'm…

Pros
  • Unreal drawing like from a magazine. All the same, L glass of the same brand as the camera creates some kind of magical picture. Most likely, the camera knows the characteristics of the glass and corrects its optical distortions.
Cons
  • Price 120at the time of writing. But what you wanted was the top-end L series, there are no cheap glasses.

Mediocre goods, most likely I will not use.

It made sense in a camera up to 5D mark II inclusive, further ISO growth and matrix density forced us to abandon this glass, it is better to buy Sigma 50mm 1.4 Art the photo shows an example with already corrected HA. Aperture 1.2 Got pros: Noble Color Canon L Series Aperture 1.2 - competitors do not have such glasses with autofocus (among mirror systems) Dust and moisture protection (when using a filter) ring USB motor - do not break like 1.4 Ideal for film camera (fine art) Cons: focus shift

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not perfect quality, there is a small defect.

Since I did not find a worthy alternative for this money, I was not disappointed with the purchase in principle. But it is better to know about the shortcomings in advance, so that later it would not be excruciatingly painful. Has pros: 1. Aperture 1.2 - everything is clear here, everything is cool 2. Build quality. L-class lens, no complaints. Has some cons: 1. Chromatic aberrations. They are just awful at aperture 1.2. Maybe not too critical, you can remove it in Lightroom. But it's still…

I am amazed at how well the product is made, just magically!

If you understand what this lens is for, then there are no shortcomings. Sometimes it seemed to me that processing in programs, on the contrary, aggravates the picture, this is art glass, when you understand how to use it, wonderful portraits are born, I don’t understand what else could be better - 1.0 ? , but it costs many times . . hotya hardly better. Pros below: Elka + aperture + magic background blur or otherwise - bokeh, etc. Its cons: I don’t know, they write about HA, but they are…

The product suited me, I will recommend it to my friends.

Thecomns that are attributed to the legendary lens, perhaps not too deservedly, are more related to an ordinary lens, and not to the classics, which incline the photographer to unhurried and thoughtful work. Pictures and impressions are here Pros: fast, professional, classic portrait fix, with excellent background blur and beautiful bokeh (on a full-sized matrix), silent focusing, dust / moisture protection Has cons: Not very sharp, sharpness does not ring at an open aperture, slow autofocus

I compared native 50 / 1.4, there was also Sigma 35 / 1.4 and much more (40 / 2.8, 85 / 1.8, different 70-200, etc. ), but these 2 fixes are the closest. Basically, everyone scolds the lens, but I still decided to buy it to replace 50 / 1.4, which I got with its constructive, crooked autofocus, low contrast and soap even on the ancient 5d (on modern ones, of course, there’s nothing to even say). I took it from my hands, after I found traces of an autopsy (if I had seen it right away, I wouldn’t

Pros
  • Normal lens, I thought it would be worse. There is an elastic band on the mount (like most L) from dust. The front saucer moves, but with a protective filter it becomes conditionally protected, because. the lens block walks inside the tube and does not climb out of the filter plane (as on 17-40/4 or 16-35/4).
Cons
  • Blenda is talking. Autofocus is slow. An old construction that is 100 years old at lunchtime. The tightness is weak, dust a little through the cracks.

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not a bad product, quite normal quality.

I took a friend for acomuple of days, a good lens, you can take pictures at night without problems, but it didn’t work out very well to take pictures of something dynamic. from 24-70 everything was easier. I would not recommend this lens to beginners, it is very peculiar, it is good in some ways, not very good in some ways. well, 24-70 will have better clarity, at least this is what immediately caught my eye whencommparing photos. acomuple of photos can be seen here (without flash)

Pros
  • Good colors, in general, like all electric lights, aperture
Cons
  • focus is slow (compared with 24-70 II)

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Unattractive product, unprofitable purchase.

The Half-tone performs poorly in terms of XA, general sharpness across the field, AF, and overall performance when compared to the EF 24-70 f/2.8L II USM when both lenses are set to a focal length of 50 millimeters and an aperture of f/2.8 (which is open for zoom!). Only if you want to fix things, have exactly fifty kopecks, a wide aperture, and autofocus is it worthwhile to take it now. The advantages or disadvantages of bokeh, color, or pattern will not be covered in this essay. Some people…

Pros
  • a significant depth of field - outstanding in terms of appearance, design, and assembly, as well as resistance to dust and moisture (requires a filter) - focusing speed and precision that are sufficient but about average (used on a single Canon EOS-1Ds) (Was set for 2022) - There is no fifty-fifty autofocus for a Canon system that is better than this lens if component quality for any price is the most critical factor for you. This lens was created primarily for business applications. (Unrealistic in 2022) - all of the advantages that come with FR 50 mm as standard (universality of use: from landscapes to portraits and reportage)
Cons
  • - a very high price, but generally speaking, it is justified because the lens is L and there is a difference with /1.4. - Not the best autofocus by modern standards (but fairly decent), the infamous shift focus that is inherent in such large relative apertures. - Up to about 1.8 holes are not working at all in the open due to terrible HA and low sharpness - in relation to the two points that came before this one: The 85 mm f/1.2 Canon is even more exact with autofocus than the 50 mm f/1.2 Canon, which was the first of the two. - slightly outdated (2022), which explains why the autofocus, sharpness, and HA cannot compete with new lenses, not even zooms of the same price (this refers to the 24-70 II and 70-200 II, of course), but somewhere (in terms of sharpness and HA) and fixes (non-L) and zooms (L) are cheaper, but newer. - somewhat outdated, indicating that buying it won't be very beneficial because it needs to be updated, which will lead to a big price decrease for the product in question. Otherwise, it's no longer funny because the EF 35 / 1.4L USM was announced in 1998 and doesn't even have dust-mist protection. As for the rest, the new half-tone hasn't been heard yet. Around the beginning of 2022, the 35L ate is finally audible. Otherwise, it stops being humorous. - With the exception of aperture, the EF 24-70 II outperforms him in each of the other categories. Beginning in 2022, there will be a price differential of about 10-15K between the two lenses: about 50K for the 50 mm and 60-65K for the 24-70 II.

Good product at a good price, I recommend to try it.

With all the advantages of glass, it has one big minus. Unstable hit in sharpness in the open. Strangely unstable. Out of 3 frames in a row, 1 will definitely miss. Regardless of the camera. I have three of them and they are all the same. Of my 7 "eleks" this one is the most predictable, sometimes fast and sharp, sometimes slows down and misses. Even in good lighting, with simple light, and good scene contrast. This is an unpleasant surprise. Unexpected from glass for 100tr. But for the…

Pros
  • Aperture. Divine watercolor colors. Oily thick bokeh "without nerves". Sharpness (when in focus) and clarity of the picture. Well, even the fact that he himself is beautiful))). That's all)
Cons
  • Unstable autofocus.

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Impressions from the purchase are good, buy.

The colors and colors are good, almost like the older brother 85L 1.2 but crappy autofocus, only at 85 it somehow moves the lens and at 50 it moves quickly even smartly but it’s still no use. If there is not enough light, it drives the focus and cannot catch. everything works quickly, but under these conditions, other glasses work quickly. When I bought it, I counted on a quick focus in the dark, but I got no focus or sharpness. On covered apertures, it works like everyone else. This is not a…

Pros
  • Lightweight, compact, well made.
Cons
  • Soapy, poor autofocus, although it is on the 5D markIII. If you shake it, something rattles in the lens block, although it works properly.

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I am satisfied, the purchase is quite successful.

I used the lens for three years, it proved to be super reliable. Fell in the mud, filmed in the snow and rain. The main drawback for me was the lack of sharpness wide open. I struggled with the obvious, but eventually I changed this lens to 35/2 is and realized that I changed 50/1.2 for a reason. I've had every Canon 50mm lens except f/1.0 and I can say with absolute certainty that Canon makes the worst "originals" of any modern camera maker.

Pros
  • Excellent design, reliability, large relative aperture, protection against dust and moisture.
Cons
  • Weight, lack of sharpness until a sufficiently strong aperture cover, shift focus.

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great product, best quality.

I use crop (60D) sharpness at 1.2 is quite good) pattern, colors, and glare at a height) autofocus is quiet and tenacious even on crop, on the technical side the lens is very well made, if there is backlash or some other shortcomings, these are problems of a single lens , I have no problems even with used ones. The price at the moment is new 55+ k on ebay with delivery 47 from america the cheapest I saw (but the difference with the fact that we don’t service American under warranty in a…

Pros
  • as many have written - luminosity - constructive (not the same as that of 50 1.4, the trunk does not leave for another half a centimeter, and this gives the advantage of TC 1.4 in the bag fell from a distance of 30 cm to the floor and the leaving part fell into the bottom of the repair) - drawing (very different from 50 1.4) - autofocus on par with 50 1.4 (no slower)
Cons
  • - focus at close range, but this is rather not a minus, but a feature of optics - it is not convenient to remove the cover when wearing a hood - HA big enough

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I was surprised by the quality for the price.

the picture is magical. the fact that the proportions are not the same and 135 mm is better is nonsense. lenses are different for that, that they draw differently, and 135 may be closer to 85 mm in terms of twist and depth. But again, they are all different. Some pros: The picture is amazing, 1.4 quietly smokes on the balcony. Tough autofocus. But you have to choose an instance. Bokeh mmm. With its cons. Price))))))) if possible, it is better to take it in usa, the savings are very pleasant…

Just super, the product is made wonderfully, very satisfied.

I would like to believe that Canon's L series is flawless . but alas, this is not entirely true. But in general, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. A small (~ 1 mm) backlash of the focus ring is noticeable. The backlash is very small, but the fingers feel it - in a lens for such a price it is quite annoying, the design of Soviet lenses seems to be stronger, more reliable and everything moves more smoothly (although I can’t vouch for the sensations, all this is already half-erased…

Pros
  • A large aperture that allows you to do interesting things. The most pleasant drawing. For today and a similar weight, very fast autofocus. Typical L-series buns: solidity (with the exception of the focus ring) design, USM with good autofocus, FTM.
Cons
  • Weak focus ring backlash, terrible HA at full aperture. The price, in my opinion, is overpriced by 300-400 dollars. For some, the weight of half a kilogram will be a big drawback, especially when choosing a hardy, but lightweight, tripod.

A wonderful product, its nice to use.

Absolutely awesome lens! It's amazing that I used to use vario/lenses and nothing else. In addition, I also have 24-70 / 2.8 and 85 / 1.2. The latter is a separate song, but it does not have universality. Another thing is a fifty dollars. Now I take it on all business trips. You can shoot almost everything, except maybe fast-moving objects. At first I walked and "clicked" everything, then the euphoria passed, but the most positive sensations remained. It is not cheap, but it is better to take…

Pros
  • It’s kind of strange to hear this from an adult man, but I just fell in love with this lens! Amazing picture, beautiful and deep bokeh, high sharpness, good autofocus performance. The lens is made of high quality, looks beautiful and solid on the camera (much better than any kind of zoom, wide-angle and telephoto), unpretentious and versatile. Not suitable for professional portraits, but at the amateur level, portraits are excellent. Depth of field wide open and FF is amazing. True, this greatly interferes with video shooting. The lens is equipped with a uranium "emerald" lens . A very nice lens, which is strangely ignored by most photographers, zooms are increasingly used. If I had to use only one lens, I would choose only this one and no other.
Cons
  • Slightly changes the focal length at polar sharpness values, at an open aperture, sharpness drops along the very edge (slightly). Expensive.

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best purchase in my life, I will definitely buy it again.

Unique lens. The only autofocus fifty dollars with f / 1.2, it is autofocus that allows you to use it quickly (depending on the bodysuit of course) and accurately, again get unique shots: in difficult lighting conditions and minimal depth of field Optical qualities are determined by the scheme: the bokeh is very beautiful, the bevels of the circle appear due to The fact that the optical spot is larger than the maximum possible fit into the size of the matrix, the sharpness at f / 1.2 is…

Pros
  • + aperture + dimensions and weight +image quality + constructive
Cons
  • - chromatic aberration

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good and quality product, but there are flaws.

In general, I do not regret, as usual, that I bought it. Best quality and price ever. Excellent art glass. A creative lens for the especially leisurely photographers. Lightweight and comfortable, able to cover long distances in a small bag. 50% of the shots are satisfying, the rest are simply amazing. Gorgeous portraits. Bokeh is like that of sophisticated telephoto cameras, but you need to get used to it. You can shoot with 1.2 around the clock.

Pros
  • Excellent aperture, optics without any perspective distortion, very comfortable. Gorgeous bokeh, naturally clearer compared to zoom lenses. On my 5DM2 became without additional adjustment. Pictures more transparent and saturated compared to 24-105mmf/4L.
Cons
  • High price. Compared to zooms, you don’t have to stand still. AF is worse than at 70-200mmf / 4L. Open and up to 1.8 - XA, slight vignetting at the edges of the frame and, of course, the sharpness is not the same as in medium and higher aperture values.
