Review on ClosetMaid 4595 Modular Closet Storage by Allan Duman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not great, not terrible. Take care when assembling

I was remodeling my daughter's wardrobe and she wanted this exact item and there just aren't many options. that they are not very durable. I have no doubt they will probably last 3-5 years at most and then everything will break, but by then she will be older and want other options. The second complaint I have is that their DEPTH isn't deep. If you have a walk-in closet, it probably doesn't matter, but if you have a typical 30-inch closet with French doors (like most homes around us), a shelf that flat is a waste of time. It would be really nice if they came in a shallow "walk-in" version and a deeper "face in" cabinet to give you more shelf and drawer space. When I say they're flat, the drawer version's drawers barely reach 14 inches. deep. If you want to replace a normal chest of drawers with it, then make sure you have enough volume. A similar 20" 4 drawer dresser will have almost 100% more volume as most freestanding furniture is 20-24" deep. Finally, if you're installing poles and plan to use them as support, be sure to check for thick side planks before you start screwing. The sides are only 0.75" thick, which means even the most typical 3/4" screws will stick out a little on the inside. I have NOT used Closet Maid poles as the mounts are very flimsy (bought and returned). I used Home Depot heavy duty rods and ferrules which are much stronger. They'll do the job, but I'd really like to see them pay more attention to making them heavier and deeper.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Minor issues
