It looks as if the unit was dropped or something hit it on the terminal and pushed it in.1. Connected it to a 12 volt batter power source.2. Unit turns on.3. Connected a computer to it and it worked.4. Connected a computer and a small Wal-mart 5 cup coffee maker and it worked5. That's when I noticed the smoke coming from the alligator wires that come with it. I went to touch the wire and they were way too hot to touch. I had to use welder's gloves to disconnect the unit from the battery.Like the other one I ordered, went back in the box and returned immediately.JUNK.
