Review on Hearts & Crafts: 20-Color Wax Chip Dyes for DIY Candle Making Supplies - Optimize Your Search! by Kelsey Brown

Simply not.

I've been making candles for a long time and needed more colored chips. I bought them (my bad one) quickly, thinking that they are the same ones I usually use. Well I didn't know they weren't until I pulled them out of the box to add to my batch of candles I was making for a client. I work my wax at 170-190 (F) degrees depending on what I'm doing. I added colored chips and waited. And waited. And waited. They never melted. I pulled out the instructions and made sure the wax didn't have to be hotter and saw that it had to be at least 154(F) for the colored chips to melt completely. I waited another 10 minutes and they never melted or added color. I then went to the reviews as it was a wrong order and a new product for me and saw that many other people were having the same issue. I saw a review that said to melt the chips first before waxing, I don't need to melt my paints first. What if I want to change the hue slightly while working? And even more so at 180 degrees it should melt! I thought of going around and picking out the bits that didn't melt, but as I have very high standards for the candles I sell I was afraid it would affect my burn. I ended up throwing the whole batch away and wasting two pounds of wax on this junk, starting over and just keeping the candles white since my wax is already white. Now I send them back, order my regular (candle shop made) chips and end the night. The first photo shows my batch 5 minutes after adding the chips, and the second photo shows it 10 minutes later, what a dip.
