Review on πŸ’¨ Enhanced Cooling Solution for Creality Printer Silent Motherboard" by Jeremy Meza

Don't expect to upgrade this printer with Titan!

This printer works right out of the box, but I've had enough issues with it that I'd call it beginner-friendly. I would say the same about every FDM Creality printer I've used, including the Ender 3 and the original CR-10. They're good for hobbies, but too inconsistent for beginners and typographers. But the real reason I'm writing this review after a year of ownership is because I bought this printer specifically to upgrade to BL Touch and E3D Titan Direct Drive and it was a very bad experience. I got BL working but only after some research on other platforms the guide was almost useless. The BL-Touch isn't implemented well in the software either, calibration is unnecessarily complicated, and there's no way to realign the platform for each print, which is something I've wanted to do quite often. Titan worked intermittently. , and got some decent prints with the TPU, but the setup, operation, and service experience are exceptionally disappointing. The installation experience was terrible due to the way the bracket attaches to the extruder body. If you have tiny little hands and good luck, you might have a better experience than me, but the screw holes don't align properly and there's no way to get it right, hold the screws tight when you install them, because of all of the other mounts in the area so you end up dropping the bolts and allen wrench dozens of times trying to mount the titan and I promise I'm not being dramatic and I do this stuff regularly. The fan mount makes it IMPOSSIBLE to install or service the Titan directly, you also have to service it as the filament gets stuck due to the poor design. Bottom line - just stay away from it unless you're ok with the stock configuration and plan on using it as a hobby printer.

Pros
  • Working Temperature: It only takes 1 minute to heat up the nozzle (200-250 degrees) and heat bed (50-60 degrees) before printing.
Cons
  • Electrical outlet required
