Review on RUFFWEAR Fernie Sweater ๐Ÿถ Knit Quick Dry Fleece Dog Jacket by Tim Olson

Excellent warmth; good mobility. Easy to turn on and off. Excellent purchase.

I had a long argument between Fernie and Climate Changer (CC). I ended up deciding to buy a purple Delphinium Fernie sweater for our 6 lb Yorkie and I'm happy with my choice. I chose Fernie because: 1) I thought it would provide more warmth thanks to the double layer: outer knit sweater + inner fleece lining; and 2) I didn't want any of her loose hairs stuck to the outer CC fleece and never really get it off (as I've had issues with previous fleece-only sweaters). We bought her an XXS and it suits her very well. The purple color is beautiful. The highly reflective lines on the back of the sweater are clearly visible even in low light. I love this material - it really is a knit sweater material (it reminds me of my Patagonia Better Sweater material) with a nice soft fleece inside. It is very comfortable for her to sleep, walk and walk in it. It's not too thick and you might worry that it will restrict movement. She has good mobility. I love the zipper - it's very easy to put on and take off! Although when running, the zipper opens about an inch. I think it's because he's penetrating her next to her hind legs/butt. It never opened more than 1 inch so it wasn't really an issue. It covers most of her stomach in addition to her breasts. It's thoughtfully cut so it's not too close to where the dog urinates. So I'm not worried at all about it getting dirty that way. What I would change: I wish there was a hole in the back for her harness ring (to attach a leash) to crawl through from underneath. We never walk with a collar because of the risk of tracheal compression. When walking on cold days, we tie their loose straps over a sweater. In my opinion a hole would make more sense than a loop for easy attachment to the back, but I'm sure if we were camping or camping this would be nice to have. Cost: I was hesitant to spend $60 on a dog sweater, but eventually stopped arguing and just bought it. I am very happy with my purchase and would buy it again. I find it a bit silly that a sweater for my 6 lb Yorkie costs the same as a sweater for a 100 lb Lab - just because of the huge difference in size and cost of materials I guess. All in all I highly recommend it. Excellent purchase! This will last longer than your dog's life and keep them nice and warm.
