Review on Shure SE215-K Sound Isolating Earphones: Professional Audio Quality, Secure In-Ear Fit - Black by Cody Howard

Should have ignored Reddit and picked this

I've been looking for a pair of IEMs to wear to work for a while and as I use the SRH1540 set as my daily riders they were first on my list to try. However, after consulting with galactic brains on Reddit, I was convinced that the 215 was horribly outdated and there are many chifi variants that work better. This led me on a journey of trying and returning many sets of highly acclaimed IEMs that all sounded the same to my ears. They all had the same boosted lower bass, punched out mids and punchy highs (thanks Harman). Finally, after about 10 pairs of IEMs, I decided to just follow my intuition and order the 215. The bottom line is that they have a warm sound signature and hardly tire at all. The bass extends well and sounds controlled to me. The mid-bass is a bit bloated, but that gives it a rich and full sound that I like. The mids are super soft and pleasant, the highs are present, but most "audiophiles" would definitely find them deepened. Treble response is the part of the sound signature that is sharpest when coming from a modern speaker set. Harman founded IEM. I personally like it. After trying other Harman-tuned headphones, I really developed a new hatred for harsh high frequencies. It certainly doesn't apply to these. The high frequencies are relaxed and smooth. People claim it's not neutral. But then again, none of the high frequencies are sharp, piercing and grainy. Fit and comfort are also great. But beware, they have quite a large insertion depth. They're still comfortable but go pretty deep in the ear canal. The isolation is phenomenal and quite frankly probably the biggest issue I've personally encountered. It's an odd complaint, but using it at work is a problem because I can't hear what's going on around me. This is not a flaw of the product, but something that is not ideal for my use case. To be honest the build quality is fantastic. The only place that really bothers me is the earpad attachment. It is thin, plastic and long. If something breaks, it's that. The set also includes many accessories. Contains 3 sets of foam tips and 3 sets of silicone tips. The kit includes a tool for removing earwax from the nozzle and a carrying case. They also included a lot of documentation. Unlike most products that only give you a box telling you not to return the product, they came with about 3 detailed instructions for use. Overall, despite what the community is currently talking about, they sound great. If you're like me and continue to use the meta headphones promoted by Reddit barkers, give them a try. They are comfortable and extremely easy to listen to for long periods of time. Worst case, Revain has a great returns policy.
