This is a simple solution for some special cases. You have a monitor or TV that you are using with a computer but HDMI is busy or you don't have but you have a free displayport, it works. Not sure if it's supposed to carry anything other than video (HDMI 2.0 can do both), on my computer it's just video, but the picture quality is comparable to what I've gotten from HDMI before, if not better. At $8.99, it might be a bit more expensive considering a decent HDMI-to-HDMI. , HDMI-DP and DP-DP cost between 9.99 and 12.99 but look good, seem to last, and in a situation where you have a working setup and want to change as little as possible, it just works , so that's fair to me but if you can buy it used and save some money I would advise you to buy it
