I bought this to fix an old Apple iSight camera so it would work with my Macbook Pro with Firewire 800. However, the side of the Firewire 400 had to be tapered with an Xacto knife before it would fit in the iSight mounting kit. It looks a little clunky, but it's better than one of those "800-400 wrenches" dangling from the side of a mobile workstation; It's easy with this cable: one cable between your MacBook Pro and the camera and microphone combo. That's right: the iSight camera and - what surprised me the most, knowing that true 30fps cameras on Firewire are better than the built-in webcam with a USB-based "cap" - audio on the iSight both hold up pretty well, even in 2017 with this type of cable.
