Slightly loose on Macbook.

This cable works well but has a tendency to slip out of the Macbook Pro Firewire 800 ports if wiggled too much. I use mine as an external music drive when I hang up. To avoid this situation, I always put something on the cord next to the computer port so it doesn't accidentally fall out and ruin my night. The Seagate cable with the metal end that originally came with my external hard drive. , had no such problems on my Macbook.

Great for my camcorder

I recently bought a Canon ZR850 MiniDV camcorder that didn't come with a FireWire cable so I bought this one. Works great, even on the first try. No messy installations, just plug and play. I have not tried it with any other product. 6ft cord is a good length, I think 3ft is too short (these are also sold). The computer I am using it with is a Compaq SR1950NX desktop and is fully functional. Keep in mind that you need to check if your computer requires a 4-6 pin connection (one end small, oneโ€ฆ

Great product, the price can't be beat!

I ordered this 1394 cable to extract some video stored on 25+ DV cassettes. My camcorder is a Sony HandyCam DCR-HC21, which is no longer compatible with Windows 7. I installed software directly from the Sony website that will allow you to use Win7 with the camcorder using the Sony recommended i-Link cable. Their i-Link cable costs over $65. For cables! I decided to try here and what do you know.! I now have all the videos on DVD! It took over 110 DVDs to store all my videos but hey! You're safe

Belkin F3N402-03-ICE 4 Pin to 4 Pin FireWire Cable

I've been in the electronics industry for 35 years and I just can't believe how much people pay for wired connections these days just because of that Product as is comes well packaged and the cables look thick which is just a lot of foam used to trick you. Trust me they are all the same and a nice gold colored plug doesn't matter. Whether you use it to connect your sound system, HDTV, or Blu-ray DVD, you shouldn't pay $50-$10,000. $100 for a cable that costs a few dollars to make. I wouldโ€ฆ

No converters required: win!

I bought this to fix an old Apple iSight camera so it would work with my Macbook Pro with Firewire 800. However, the side of the Firewire 400 had to be tapered with an Xacto knife before it would fit in the iSight mounting kit. It looks a little clunky, but it's better than one of those "800-400 wrenches" dangling from the side of a mobile workstation; It's easy with this cable: one cable between your MacBook Pro and the camera and microphone combo. That's right: the iSight camera and - whatโ€ฆ

Good cable: no static or interference between devices, transfer rate is decent. The only reason it gets 4 instead of 5 is because the cable is very tight. I think that's a good thing (the cable is well insulated), but it's not flexible enough for my needs. It's so stiff that I really have to fight it to keep my device where I want it. I'm working on a frame-by-frame animation project and this cable is a real thorn in my side when trying to position the camera. . It was too frustrating to keepโ€ฆ

Canon camcorder for Windows 7 computers. Perfect.

FireWire is one of the few ways I can stream HD video from my professional camcorder to my computer. With this cable I can control my camcorder with a video editing program and transfer media files. I'm using a Canon XL H1 and all I have to do is plug it in, open Premiere and press F5. From there I can find the clip and take a picture or just upload everything straight from the camera in HD! They were over $10 about 6 months ago so I'm glad I can get them for such a cheap price now. I boughtโ€ฆ

4 of 5: Firewire Cable

I ordered this to help me transfer video from my camcorder to my laptop (it's an old camcorder that uses tape). that the cable is quite stiff, and since I ordered the 36" version, that means it's not long enough to allow for sharp bends. This means you can likely damage ports on the device you're connecting to if you're not careful. Otherwise no complaints. Works as it should. I just wish the cable was more flexible.
