Good cable: no static or interference between devices, transfer rate is decent. The only reason it gets 4 instead of 5 is because the cable is very tight. I think that's a good thing (the cable is well insulated), but it's not flexible enough for my needs. It's so stiff that I really have to fight it to keep my device where I want it. I'm working on a frame-by-frame animation project and this cable is a real thorn in my side when trying to position the camera. . It was too frustrating to keep twisting or pinching the cable to keep from slowly pulling the camera out of position. I refused to fight it and ordered another cable which is much longer than I need but at least I have more room to plug it in when I run into the issue of it being too stiff. BOTTOM LINE: If all you need is a FireWire cable for data transfer and not connecting it to a live capture device, then that's fine. It does what it's supposed to do without corrupting the data. Can not complain. However, if you need this cable to connect to a live recording device, be aware that it's about as rigid as a miniature garden hose and your device will want to go where the cable is supposed to deliver.
