I've always gamed on my Alienware laptop with its built in keyboard and wired mouse so I'm used to membrane keys. I bought a regular mechanical gaming keyboard and found the key travel to be too long. I couldn't type on it either, I was fiddling with the keys the whole time. I replaced that keyboard with this one because of the short keys (and it looks cool and matches my laptop) and I love it! Volume scrolling is a must in my opinion, and the backlight is a lot of fun. My only concern is that I wish there were programmable keys on the left side of the keyboard that my laptop keyboard has. Looks very solid and feels like you can start the car with the wire (it's thick). I would recommend this to those who are used to gaming/typing on laptop keys or similar devices and want to use mechanical keyboards.
