I wanted an ax but didn't want the super large weight for my emergency bag. I got this ax and was pleasantly surprised. The only thing I did (but didn't have to) was sharpen the blade a bit. Now you don't fell a life-size tree with it, but of course some smaller ones, and you can chop wood for sure, but not in one fell swoop. What I did with it was actually hit it, ram it into a tree, take another piece of wood and hit it with an ax behind it. Share very well. All other tools are very good, but I really wanted an ax and a hammer. I even came with a nice little case. Look, if you want a full-size hatchet or ax, get it. If you're looking for a small, durable tool for your emergency bag or on a hike, this is your tool.
