I would say this is more of a travel box than a permanent home box and that is how it is advertised. In a pinch, it will do as a full cage, especially if you have a puppy or small dog. In our case we are only using this as a "puppy trainer" and when our dog is fully grown he will move to larger quarters. The box has soft walls and is relatively easy to fold. Once installed, the drawer is fully self-supporting and keeps its shape well. If you're transporting a pet in it, remember that the floor is simply nylon covered with foam padding. To support a small pet, you can cut a 1/8th thick piece of plywood to fit the bottom support.
