The best webcam I've ever used

I use a webcam for online school and that's enough, at least I thought so. I'll admit I'm an image snob, I have a full frame Canon DSLR, but I never expect decent image quality from a webcam, especially in low light conditions. I was fascinated by this Elgato because it uses a Sony sensor and the low light quality is Sony's strong point. Happy to report that it does not disappoint. The utility that gets installed when the drivers load (I have it on Win10) has a whole bunch of settings plus up to 1080p60 resolution. When I looked at the preview the image was so clear I was worried about how my face was aging lol! I switched it to 1080p30 and that reduced the details a bit. It's GOOD that you have enough image quality to drop it when needed! The automatic settings work fairly well for exposure and white balance, and surprisingly, you can choose an exposure type that's center-weighted by default. Leave it there if you're not sure if this option works. But you have manual controls so I went in and set up the camera manually by adjusting exposure, shadows, contrast and white balance, it's so nice to have that control. Then I turned off all manual controls and set up the camera the same way I set up a DSLR for video: shutter speed about twice the frame rate. The software allows you to adjust the shutter speed, which is great. So at 30fps I could choose a shutter speed of 1/64 and then use the ISO to adjust the exposure. For video, your weird ISO settings tend to be less noisy, i.e. H. 160, 320, 640, 1250, 2500 etc. It took me 2500 ISO in my darker office to get the exposure right and with the noise reduction on I got a surprisingly good picture. I bet I get asked what camera I'm using because it doesn't look like a cheap webcam. Camera and software are a great combination. Important: The supplied cable is quite thick, but has a reasonable speed rating. It's USB-C to USB-A 3.0 and you should be in a real USB port, not a hub, when it's not powered. The camera has a USB-C port on the back (good!) and you can use either USB-C or USB-A if it's 3.0 and it works fine either way. I tried a few of my cables to test and some worked and some didn't, including a cheap USB-C cable, so all cables are different, JSYK.
