My daughter and I travel extensively and this is the perfect bag to take with you wherever you go. The compartments and size are perfect for everything you need. It can hold a small water bottle, scarf, kindle, phone, Kleenex wipes, cosmetics, wallet, turbo book and more. This style makes it very convenient to carry the bag on the front or back of the shoulder (when trying to make sure you don't become a victim of thieves looking for tourists). We both had back problems and find no problem with this backpack even after carrying it 8-10 hours a day while exploring a new city. After 6 years and thousands of hours of use, my daughter's stitching ripped so this is her replacement. I prefer the nylon bag as it is water resistant. The tattered look gives it a bit of visual interest, but it's not very noticeable. The black and gray options are neutral and go with everything. I haven't seen microfiber.
