The switch is very difficult to turn to turn the light on and off.

I repaired a friend's antique lantern by replacing the cartridge. I had to use the metal screw mount from the old outlet because the new one was too long and I still had to lengthen the hole for the switch to keep the handle from rubbing. The on/off switch is very difficult to turn on and off, so I might have to reconsider changing the outlet because it has a switch, or find another way to turn the lamp on and off.
