Well, that's definitely not a thick mattress, which is what I knew when I decided to buy it. It fits perfectly in my dream on my hexagonal onyx playpen, I just washed it in the washing machine and yes it's machine washable. The label recommends the dryer. It has enough padding so I don't have to worry about my child getting hurt if they fall. He must think it's comfortable too since he sleeps in it every day. My only concern is that my child could pull the pillow back and roll up if they just try hard enough that they might get under the pillow, but that's not a problem as they are supervised. Definitely recommend. I think I should also clarify and point out that my baby is almost a year old now.
