I tried this with only one monitor connected, but my monitor complains that "the current input timing is not supported by the monitor" when this DVI splitter is placed between the graphics card and my DVI cable. When my DVI cable is plugged directly into the graphics card, it works great. I have to assume that the splitter should be invisible to the computer and monitor when only one monitor is connected, so there must be a manufacturing defect with this splitter.
