Will use this on my 8 week old kittens that I just adopted. There is definitely a learning curve on how to brush properly. The first 2 times I used it I only managed to get about 3 fleas from each, but I knew there were more. The third time I used it I got 8 fleas from one kitten and 3 from another. Here are the steps I followed, along with a few tips (Warning: I'm scared to death of bugs, and in all the time I've scoured the internet for flea removal articles, I've had enough enlarged pictures of ugly looking ones be horrified to see fleas). them): Setup: 1. Take a large, deep bowl of water + dish soap (preferably Dawn) lined with cling film for easy washing. 2. Take a small cup of water + dish soap + dip (the ends) of cotton swabs into it.3. Put a light-colored (preferably white) carpet/blanket on the floor for easy spotting of fallen fleas/eggs/dirt. A few small, cut paper towels. While: 1. It's better to have someone to help you. I combed out the fleas + dipped the entire comb into a large bowl when I saw fleas. My assistant held the kitten by the scruff to limit its mobility + wiped the comb dry with a paper towel after removing fleas with a cotton swab.1.a. When my helper wasn't around, I wrapped my kitty in a small blanket or towel (which you don't use) and worked on each section (i.e. combing the head, wrapping the body, combing the paws, wrapping the torso). .2. Comb in the direction of fur growth, keeping your teeth as close to the skin as possible (but be careful! It's apparently very easy to cut your furry baby's skin).3. Partial work! Start with the head and then do the neck, shoulders, arms, torso, legs and tail. Fleas move to different areas of the body when disturbed. Pay special attention to the neck and the back of the legs/tails.4. When you're done, you can use the comb to pick up dirt/eggs that fell on the light colored carpet/ceiling. Flush the liquid from the deep bowl down the toilet. After: 1. Repeat this process daily until you find no more fleas (usually about 1-2 weeks).2. About a week into this, be sure to vacuum all carpets with salt and baking soda and any clothing/quilts/etc that come in contact with it. to wash. Overall this is a good comb that has done its job. My only complaint is that mine was slightly damaged, 2 teeth were bent so fleas could easily get through the spot.
