It's a worthy iron, the best of irons

Let's start with that. I quilt 4-8 hours a day, knit and/or quilt. Solid iron is a staple in my world. Last year I bought an iron for about $100. Less than a year later, I threw it away and vowed never to spend that much money on an iron again. I would rather buy cheaper even if I have to replace it after a year. So here we are. I bought this based on the reviews. I'm not thrilled. what i like about her The sole does a great job of creating a smooth, ironed finish. My husband's shirts have never looked better! They are lightweight and don't look like toys. It's just the weight I need. It does have an auto-shutoff feature (the bane of all quilts, btw), but the nice thing is that if I press the button to restart it, it turns back on with the same setting. it was on when it went off. This is an amazing feature. It heats up quickly. I think it's good that you can see through the water tank. I like the retractable cord. It's a feature I'll never be without again. This one works better than my previous one. What I don't like: Very difficult to fill without making a mess. The filler neck has a cap that can get in the way no matter what container I use to fill the iron. The hole is about 1/2" and seems to shrink as I water. Lol. I keep a jug of water in my sewing room and I usually leave excess water back in the jug for later ironing. IMPOSSIBLE with this iron. Draining the Ironing leads to constant spattering of water that splatters all over the place. The button layout is awkward and the settings panel can be hard to read. You don't seem to have done any research. As our eyes age, blush, it becomes difficult to see, or in this case, 'see through' I find myself squinting to read the settings and my vision is pretty good. None of this matters much if you can't see the reading under your thumb. Whose idea was that?! If having the button BELOW the display screen solved the problem.Steam shipping is meager but adequate for my use.Overall I'm happy with my purchase n. I've been using it for a few weeks now. I'm curious to see how good it is. The outsole holds up to the much-vaunted Durathon coating. I suspect I'll be on the lookout for a new iron in 12-15 years. Months. We will see.

Pros
  • TRIPLE AUTO OFF: Count on the iron to turn off automatically after 30 seconds when placed on the soleplate or side, and after 15 minutes, when placed perpendicular to your heel.
Cons
  • Hard to say
