I recommend this product for use on diesel engines, particularly on the exhaust manifold and/or turbo side. If your diesel engine does not have some form of battery heat shield from the factory, it was most likely removed due to damage or for the convenience of the installer. I have used this product on my group 65 batteries in my diesel. I had to trim a bit and found it cuts nicely with a sharp blade on a plywood base and a ruler. DO NOT DO WHAT I DID BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU COVER THE BATTERY WITH A BLACK COATING AND CUT IT AS IT WILL GIVE YOU WRONG MEASUREMENTS. After a sheet of aluminum-fiberglass with the black matte finish is pressed together and wrapped around the battery, you lose about an inch of the black matte finish and an ugly gap emerges. I also had to cut out a few more rectangles from the bottom battery mount for the clamping wedges. Aside from all the work and the fact that I had to buy the product twice due to my mistake, I was extremely impressed with the quality of this product. Unlike other products I've experimented with in the past, the aluminized screen is bonded to thick fiberglass and has a spatial quality I've never seen before. I think it was worth the cost.
