This product has a good reputation as being "true 18 AWG" but the moment I stripped the end of the wire it became clear that this was a false claim. The wire is more like 26 or 28 AWG. Doesn't matter? For short runs, 18 AWG carries 16 amps. 28 AWG wire can handle 1.4 amps. If you're using a 12W motor or LED bulb (which requires 1A of current), you're dangerously close to the cable's capacity. It is also more fragile and difficult to handle. Thinking maybe I hadn't looked at 18 AWG wire in a while, I pulled out a spool of 18 gauge wire, which was significantly larger, for comparison. This product is not as advertised and should be avoided.
